synopsis of history

  •   St. Mark Baptist Church was organized on November 5, 1981 in the home of our founder, Rev. & Sis. Mitchell on Sebring Drive.
  • After 2 months the church moved to a building located at 6444 Bonnie View Road in Dallas and the first worship service was held there on the first Sunday in January, 1982.
  • On January 10, 1982 a formal service was held at Greater Mt. Hebron Baptist Church in order to officially organize St. Mark Baptist Church and appoint Rev. Mitchell as Pastor.
  • The service was conducted by Rev. H. Crayton (Pastor of Greater Mt. Hebron Baptist Church) and Rev. J. Mitchell (Pastor of Bon Air Baptist Church).
  • As St. Mark began to experience a vast ingathering of souls, a larger place of worship was needed. In 1985 the church purchased and paid for the building located at 9020 Bluecrest Dr. Dallas, Texas.
  • After years of faithful service in ministry Rev. Mitchell received a vision for St. Mark.
  • The name was changed to New St. Mark Baptist Church and the current building was sold in order to build a new church.
  • Due to health reasons Rev. Mitchell retired as Pastor but not from ministry in 2014. Rev. and Sis. Mitchell's heart for the people and their honest servant leadership are genuine and are praiseworthy. Rev. & Sis. Mitchell are truly leaders among men.
  • On April 27, 2014 Rev. Mark Mitchell, Sr. was installed as the second Pastor of New St. Mark Baptist Church. We have not lost focus of our vision and will continue to seek to expand God's Holy Kingdom on earth until He comes again!
